Ain't Nobody Got Time for That

Last week, Tiffany wrote a mail here that you may accept read, called The Power of Taking a Break. This particular postal service couldn't have come at a better time for lots of you who responded in the comments, but also, it couldn't take come up at a better time for me. And then today, I'm kind of piggy-bankroll on Tiffany's post and sharing my thoughts on the subject…

Lately, at that place'due south been a theme among the web log buds in my piddling circle and nearly anybody is proverb the same thing. Me included. And that is this…"Man, I need a pause!" or "I'm then decorated I can hardly handle it." or "What was I thinking when I agreed to add together more to-dos to my already never-ending to-practise list."

We commit ourselves to also many exterior projects and and then go crazy trying to get them done before the deadline. Audio familiar?

The projects ever get done, fifty-fifty if information technology means a few tears and a couple of sleepless (or almost sleepless) nights. But is it really worth it, if you end of pulling your hair out to get everything done?

And with all of the states so quick to pile on the projects and interviews and online events and offline events and…well, you get the point…why doesn't it as well come naturally to pile on breaks throughout the day, build in more downtime, and programme (and actually have) a vacation every once in a while?

Ain't nobody got time for that. Duh.

Just really, what I should be saying is thatnobody is MAKING time for that.

Of course, I understand why this happens because I do it too. When you're running your ain business, and you're your ain boss, and you lot're the i responsible for making whatsoever (and all) of the cash coming in, it's tough to say no when an opportunity pops up. You lot desire to say yes to the things that will brand you lot more money, help you accomplish more 'success', get yous more 'exposure', and peradventure even a free ticket to XYZ.

But where does all that get out yous, ultimately? Nigh likely, walking down the street to insanely busy town/ my house is a mess town / when volition I regain my sanity town.

I don't know about you, but I am done going down those roads. And I'm definitely done saying that I'll take a break next month, when things dull downwardly, only to realize that I've been saying that since January.

So tomorrow I'g taking a footling trip to California with Jeff. Abroad from the computer. To squeeze in a picayune rafting, a 24-hour interval trip to Yosemite, and a quick visit with family unit earlier headed back habitation this weekend. FYI- I've already scheduled my posts for the rest of the week. So posting volition continue every bit normal while I'one thousand away.

I won't be waiting for things to ho-hum down on their ain, I'm just going to force them to.

And I recollect that is the point I'm really trying to make here. We're all busy. We all accept on a whole heck of lot of stuff, that fills our schedules to the betoken of craziness. BUT we can alter that pretty hands. And decide to stop,Accept A BREAK, and let things go…for a few minutes, a few hours, or fifty-fifty a few days. AND fifty-fifty if your electric current to-do list is longer than Santa'southward on Christmas Eve.

Simply schedule it into your agenda, if it helps, and treat it as you lot would a client projection. Downtime is just equally important to your business as anything else. And trust me, those emails (and whatever else is on your to practise listing) will still be at that place when you lot get dorsum.

Who knows, perhaps you'll even be excited to reply them once y'all've had a piffling fourth dimension away.
